Do Now 1.Susie earns 1/4 of a dollar for every 1/2 mile she runs in the race. How many miles does she need to run to earn a dollar? 2.Henry completes 1/6 of his homework early 2/3 hour. How long will it take him to complete his homework? 3.Mary used 1/2 cup of butter to make 2/3 of a batch of cookies. How much butter does she need to use to make 1 batch of cookies?

Lesson Review Objective – Compute unit rate of fractions for ratios of lengths, areas, time, and other quantities measured in like and different units with 90% or greater accuracy after review.

Lesson Review A ratio is the comparison of two numbers or measures that have the same unit. A Rate is a ratio between two quantities of different units. Unit rate is the ratio of two measurements in which the denominator is 1. When two ratios are equal, it is called a proportion. You solve for a unit rate by setting up a proportion in which the denominator is 1 and solving for the unknown.

Homework Review We will spend 30 minutes reviewing homework. Please check your own work as we review and enter in changes you need to make for your answers. This is a group review. Be prepared to work out the answer on the board.

Independent Practice You will have no more than 30 minutes to work on your independent practice. Independent practice work is to be done quietly or with 6 in voice if you need to work with a partner. We will review answers as you are working the problems.

Exit Ticket Create a word problem using ratios of fractions and solve. Use your homework and independent practice as a guide. – You will need two sentences. The first will have the ratio of two measurements and the second you will ask what to solve for. – Solve your word problem.
