3 PROGRAM DESCRIPTION Hands of Serve is a Texas program developed in 2004. Program focus is the specific needs and expectations of adult learners. Incorporates industry-based terminology into an academic curriculum.

4 HISTORICAL CONTEXT Driven by the need for an educated adult workforce Based on the CTTC Response to Senate Bill 280 Answers employment demands for the community Provides an answer to educating Adult ELL and Adult Technical learners

5 ANDRAGOGICAL ASPECTS Allows students to achieve their goals Helps them with job readiness Helps adults excel in the workforce Gives students relevant education skills

6 FUTURE EFFECTS Tailored skills for adult learners: Use of industry specific terminology built into curriculum Fostering an early understanding of specific industries Results in specialized adult students ready for the job market

7 FUTURE EFFECTS CONTINUED Educational skills tailored to the current job market Partnership between career services department and key industry leaders Employers contribute input to programs, based on needs Guaranteed employment for graduating students
