Click on start button in task bar Select all programs Select Microsoft office Click on Microsoft Office Word Method 2 Click on start button Click on run Type winword Click on ok Method 3 Double click on MS-Word shortcut on desktop

Creating shortcut to MS-Word
Right click on desktop Select new sub menu Click on shortcut menu item Click browse button’ Select c:\program files\microsoft office\office11\winword.exe and click ok Click on next Type shortcut as MS-Word Click on finish button

Adding or Removing a Tool Bar
Open MS-Word Click on view menu Select tool bars sub menu Select a tool bar to add or cancel a tool bar to remove in check box menu items Adding or Removing a Ruler Open MS-Word Click on view menu Select a ruler to add or cancel a ruler to remove in check box menu item

Opening a New Document Click on file menu Click on new menu item
Click on blank document option in new document task pane MS-Word file – Document You can use new blank document button in standard tool bar to opening a new document

Saving a File Open word and type the text of document or file
Click on file menu Click on save menu item Browse the location and create the new folder (optional) and type a file name and click on save button in save as dialog box. File extension of word is .doc

Saving a Word File in Another Location
Click on file menu Click on save as menu item Browse the location and create the new folder (optional) and type a file name and click on save button in save as dialog box. Save- Initial save location Save As- Save the file to new location or giving another file name

Browse and select the file and click on open button in Open dialog box

Status Bar Elements Page - Indicates the page of text displayed on the screen Sec - Indicates the section of text displayed on the screen 1/1 - Indicates the number of pages from the beginning of the document to the displayed page and the total pages in the document. At -Indicates the vertical position of the insertion point from the top margin of the page. Ln - Indicates the virtual position of the insertion point from the top margin of the page. Col -Indicates the virtual position of the insertion point from the top margin of the page.

Closing a File Exiting from Word Click on file menu
Click on close menu item You can use close button in menu bar Exiting from Word Click on file menu Click on exit menu item You can use close button in title bar
