2. PRONOUNS must always match the words they replace. For some writers, this rule poses problems with indefinite pronouns. Just remember that indefinite pronouns (words like anyone, everyone, someone, no one, nobody) are ALWAYS singular. For example, Everyone must bring his or her lunch to school. Write a paragraph describing the ideal student dress code. Use ALL of the indefinite pronouns listed above.

3. Who Knows the Rule? Who and whom are certainly confusingeven some experienced writers arent sure when to use which. Heres an easy way to figure it out: if you could replace the w-word with he, she, or they, use who or whoever. If you could replace the w-word with him, her, or them, use whom or whomever. Still confused? Simply rephrase the sentence so that you can choose between he and him. For example, if you have the sentence He is someone whom/who I consider a hero, rephrase the sentence: I consider him a hero. Because you used him, you know that whom is correct.
