When using dialogue, it is rather boring, dull and redundant to constantly use the word ‘said’ or ‘stated’. As a writer, you should choose words that will help create the tone/mood of your story.

Next time you’re using dialogue, be sure to keep in mind what emotion/mood you are trying to create. Use more fitting and descriptive words to show this! It will make your writing SO MUCH better and your reader will find it much more interesting!!
