18 Conclusions Eddy covariance looks promising for measuring CO 2 fluxes over freshwater systems with large pCO 2 gradients Previous estimates of CO 2 outgassing from the Amazon Basin (0.5 Gt C y -1 ) may be conservative, based on the underestimation of gas transfer velocity, pCO 2 in Rio Negro, etc.
