Curriculum Gatherings Key Features: Bottom up/local – all over the UK if wanted Schools twilight sessions one way to engage schools Educators/NGOs/networks input needed Include new research New sustainability challenges? Cross curricular approaches International examples – UNESCO Advisor Prof C Hopkins Workplace skills needed for teachers/educators

Phase B. Developing Curriculum Frameworks Needs to consider: Not a new subject – how to incorporate into subjects Look at examples – at all scales, in school or nationally What will work with the new National Curriculum for teachers? Test it out with teachers – but a pick and mix model Not just content – the how you teach this or create students experiences Scope and sequence early years to graduate

Phase C. Build capacity (Apr 2013 -) Developing a nationwide approach to: Designing your own local school curriculum Building understandings of SD Building teacher competencies Tracking impact/evidence

Discussion What are your first thoughts about this project? What examples, case studies etc do you know of? What are the best ways of engaging people in this? Young people’s entitlement to engage? How should we do this?
