2 Alliteration –The repetition of consonant sounds at the beginning of several words.

3 Climax-The high point or most exciting point in a story.

4 Conflict-The struggle faced by the main character.

5 Exposition- The first part of a typical story’s plot.

6 Falling Action-The stage in the plot when the story begins to draw to a close.

7 Main Idea- The central idea in a story.

8 Mood-the feeling or atmosphere that a writer creates for the reader.

9 Plot-the sequence of events that make up the action of a story.

10 1 st person point of view-the vantage point from which a story is told using the pronouns I, me, us and we outside of the quotations.

11 3 rd person omniscient- the vantage point from which a story is told using the pronouns she, he, and they outside of the quotations. Knows all.

12 resolution- the ending of a story.

13 rhyme-the repetition of the same sounds at the end of the words.

14 Rising action- the stage in the plot that develops the struggle.

15 Setting- the time and place the events of a story occur.

16 Simile- a comparison of two things essentially unlike using the words like and as. She is as sharp as a tack.

17 Stanza- a group of two or more lines that form a unit in a poem.

18 Theme- the lesson, message, or moral of a story.

19 Tone-the attitude a writer has towards his or her work.
