5 Description The North ER1000 Escape Respirator is an ESCAPE ONLY, Air-Purifying respirator consisting of a hood with neck seal, a halfmask facepiece and two air- purifying cartridges. When the wearer inhales, air is drawn through the air-purifying cartridges and expelled through the exhalation valve when the wearer exhales

6 WARNINGS This respirator is designed to provide LIMITED PROTECTION for a SINGLE ESCAPE from: GASES VAPORS PARTICULARS DO NOT REUSE It is NOT designed for escape from FIRE or RADIATION

7 WARNINGS Con’t Do NOT use to enter into a contaminated or unknown atmosphere for ANY purpose Do NOT use to enter into a contaminated or unknown atmosphere for ANY purpose Do NOT use for protection while working in a LDH atmosphere Do NOT use for protection while working in a LDH atmosphere Do NOT remove while in a contaminated or unknown atmosphere Do NOT remove while in a contaminated or unknown atmosphere This respirator will NOT provide protection from high heat, flames or carbon monoxide Do NOT use for fire fighting or escape from fire

8 Donning the Respirator The neck seal of the respirator seals around the users neck Remove any neckware, such as ties or jewelry and tie back any hair that may interfere with the neck seal

12 DONNING #5 GET OUT of the area quickly but safely If contaminated, call for support and HazMat for decontamination of yourself and your unit Leave respirator on until in a safe area

13 Doffing the Respirator In a NON- CONTAMINATED area, loosen the straps by pulling forward on the latches Grab the neck seal with both hands, and pull the hood over your head

14 Maintenance The respirators are to be stored ON YOUR UNITS for emergency use Should be in an easily accessible cabinet The respirator is designed for a SINGLE USE Should be disposed of after use Check during your daily, weekly or monthly rig checks to make sure still in sealed package and present

15 STORAGE The Escape Respirator is packaged in a SEALED FOIL PACKAGE to protect from light and moisture Store the respirator in a CLEAN, DRY area in its original sealed foil package

16 EXPIRATION DATE Expiration date is FIVE YEARS from date of manufacture The expiration date is on the box and the foil package
