English Students communicate their desired course level to their 8 th grade Language Arts teacher. Teacher will advise student based upon current skill level and performance. World Language The Teacher’s recommendation is a crucial component in addition to the grade of an “A” since students go from a heterogeneous grouping to a homogeneous grouping at THS and the oral proficiency is key to succeeding in Honors. Honors Criteria

Advanced Orchestra and Chorus Mr. Millar visits 8 th grade music classes and explains the audition requirements which are also posted on his web pages. A few weeks later, he sets up audition times at TMS to hear the students who wish to audition. Results are shared with the Guidance Counselor who shares with the student. Appeals Process

February-March 2015 Course level recommendations may be appealed, in writing to the Content Supervisor, whose decision in turn can be appealed to the High School Vice Principal, Principal, Assistant Superintendent and Board of Education.
