Connect to Excel Spreadsheet with an OLE DB Connection

Create an Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) data source. Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Data Sources (ODBC).

Add Your New Data Source Click the Add Button Choose Microsoft Excel Driver (*.xls) Click Finish Set Source Name Select Workbook Navigate to your File Click OK OK to Exit

Reformat your Excel Data Open your Excel File and Select the area you want to import Insert > Name > Define Type Name and click Add, and then OK Save and close the Workbook

Connect to Excel from ArcCatalog Open ArcCatalog Select Database Connection > Add OLE DB Connection Choose OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers Select Next Choose the data Source Name Select the workbook to Use Click OK

Add the Excel File to ArcMap Choose the add data button Select the OLE DB Connection link Choose your new table Click Add Your file has been added and you can interact with it like any other.dbf
