4.  Wrote the screenplay for 2001: A Space Odyssey with Stanley Kubrick (1968)  Was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Screenplay  Was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 1998 and became known as Sir Arthur Clarke  Died on March 19, 2008
