BeginningNext SlideBack End Program AVADAL 1 of 18 SK-16 Main Pumps 4 Pumps Per Strand – Normally 2 running and 2 on standby as back-up. Motor is 60 HP @ 1200 RPM

BeginningNext SlideBack End Program AVADAL 2 of 18 SK-16 Main Pump Dual Pressure 3 Pumps Are Dual Pressure Oilgear PVK 140

BeginningNext SlideBack End Program AVADAL 3 of 18 SK-16 Main Pump Dual Pressure

BeginningNext SlideBack End Program AVADAL 4 of 18 SK-16 Main Pump Low Pressure 1 Pump is the original Delevan PS-720 for low pressure circuit. It is set for 30 GPM @ 650 PSI

BeginningNext SlideBack End Program AVADAL 5 of 18 SK-16 Main Pump Low Pressure

BeginningNext SlideBack End Program AVADAL 6 of 18 SK-16 Pump Manifold Selects High Pressure – 3000 PSI or Low Pressure – 650 PSI

BeginningNext SlideBack End Program AVADAL 7 of 18 SK-16 Main Pumps The purpose of these pump modules is to provide the high and low hydraulic fluid power pressures required to sustain continuous and ample supply to the various components which position and hold the rolls on the Caster. Each module contains a pump, motor, directional valves, relief, check valves and pressure switches.

BeginningNext SlideBack End Program AVADAL 8 of 18 SK-16 Main Pumps The Pumps are a positive displacement, variable volume, variable pressure, axial piston type with pressure compensating control and two-stage control valve. The pump can deliver 30 GPM (depending on the maximum volume stop) at 1200 RPM at either 650 PSI or 2960 PSI, which are preset on Hi-Lo control valve on pump.

BeginningNext SlideBack End Program AVADAL 9 of 18 SK-16 Main Pumps This pump can only rotate in one direction and motor rotation must be checked before coupling to prevent damage to the pump. It is important that the suction valve be wide open and pump housing is filled with fluid before starting pump.

BeginningNext SlideBack End Program AVADAL 10 of 18 SK-16 Main Pumps The 4 way, 2 position spring offset solenoid valve provides pilot control for Hi-Lo feature on Delevan pump and also to operate directional valve on low pressure line. Solenoid Valve & Pilot Operated Slave Valve

BeginningNext SlideBack End Program AVADAL 11 of 18 SK-16 Main Pumps When this valve is de-energized, it pressurizes high pressure piston on the Delevan compensator control valve, compressing spring; thereby setting up pump for high pressure.

BeginningNext SlideBack End Program AVADAL 12 of 18 SK-16 Main Pumps Also at this time, it shifts directional valve on low pressure line, blocking off flow into low pressure system.

BeginningNext SlideBack End Program AVADAL 13 of 18 SK-16 Main Pumps On the Oilgear PVK pumps, the solenoid valve mounted on the pump will control the Hi – Low pressure feature.

BeginningNext SlideBack End Program AVADAL 14 of 18 SK-16 Main Pumps Oilgear PVK Pump Dual Pressure

BeginningNext SlideBack End Program AVADAL 15 of 18 SK-16 Main Pumps The check valves are provided to prevent counter flow from high or low systems when pump in particular module is not running, or prevent backup from accumulator module in case of power failure.

BeginningNext SlideBack End Program AVADAL 16 of 18 SK-16 Main Pumps There is a high pressure relief valve set at 3000 PSI to provide protection for the motor and pump. Under normal conditions, this valve is closed and there is no flow. However, if there is a closed discharge shutoff valve or compensator control malfunction on pump, this, valve will vent to tank at 3200 PSI.

BeginningNext SlideBack End Program AVADAL 17 of 18 SK-16 Main Pumps There is also a relief valve on low pressure discharge line set approximately 100 PSI above the LP system. This protection is necessary in case blocking valve below it fails to shift when pump is set for high pressure; also if there is a bad check valve in system.

BeginningNext SlideBack End Program AVADAL 18 of 18 SK-16 Main Pumps There are two pressure switches which transmit electrical signals back to control panel and are instrumental in setting up machinery to start up other pump modules to satisfy demands of system or pump failure. There is also a pressure gage on pump discharge line to set high and low pressures on pump and for troubleshooting.
