Provided the original funds to prepare & respond to biological (i.e. smallpox/anthrax) & chemical attacks. Assisted the department with preparedness planning for a public health emergency.

Resulted in the development of the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) that within 24 hours may be deployed delivering 50 tons of medical supplies & medications to a Local Health Department (LHD) for treatment of the affected population.

Increases the capacity of the county to respond to a public health emergency by locating Points of Dispensing (POD) sites that may be utilized in a public health emergency. - PODs may be used as mass clinics to dispense vaccines, provide mass prophylaxis, or for treatment.

The Hospital Preparedness Program (HPP) funded by a Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) grant. Hospital preparedness & training for a hospital response to a Public Health emergency. The purchase of response equipment: Decontamination equipment, Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPRs), protective suits, surge tents, & other equipment needed by hospitals to respond to an emergency. This program requires:
