Evaluate and the severity and likelihood of the risk occurring and calculate risk rating 4 Suggest measures Click on the underlined blue words above, to see more information on those terms 5 Review and monitor
6
Suggest measures 1 Identify the hazard 2 Identify who is at risk 3
Rate the risk 4 Suggest measures What can be done to prevent an identified risk causing injury, and how do you control the risk? 5 Review and monitor
7
Review and monitor 1 Identify the hazard 2 Identify who is at risk 3
Rate the risk 4 Suggest measures 5 Review and monitor Continually review, monitor and evaluate the risk assessment. Situations are always changing.
8
Likelihood of an accident occurring
Score Likelihood 1 Very little chance of risk happening 2 50% chance of risk occurring 3 High chance of risk happening
9
Severity of accident Score Severity 1 2 3
Low risk which can be easily treated on site 2 Medium risk which would need medical assistance i.e. calling 999 3 High risk would lead to death or a serious injury
10
Risk Rating = Likelihood (L ) x Severity (S)
1 2 3 4 6 9 Low Medium High Risk rating of 1 or 2 Risk rating of 3 or 6 Risk rating of 7 or 9
