American Abstract Expressionist Sculptor

Born on September 18, 1933 (79) in Shanghai, China. Immigrated to San Francisco, California in 1941 University of California, Berkeley (1953-1957) with a BA in Philosophy. Work has been exhibited in the US, France, The Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Germany, Australia, Japan and The United Kingdom.

Lifelong activist for peace and social justice. Co-founded Park Place Gallery in 1962, the first artists’ cooperative in New York City. Athena Foundation(1977), Assists artists in realizing their ambitions.

Started in construction, became injured in an elevator accident---became a paraplegic. Pioneered using the crane for work. Learned to use arc welder in rehab Used scrap metal, tires and structural steel. Exploration has lead to H-beams and steel plates. Influenced by poetry, music and philosophy.
