8. Focalization Lombardy has a large number of firms but they are very small. Main objectives for the local economic structure are firm growth, innovation and internationalization. Firm activities in which public intervention is more necessary (because they are not covered by private bank system) are start up, succession and innovation It would be important to match these above general purposes (i.e. start up of innovative firms; acquisitions of SME who risk to cease)
