The Life of Poe Death. Rejection. Depression. Madness. Since the early year’s of Poe’s life, there was nothing but death. With both parents dead and other family members soon to follow, Poe’s life was soon to become lonely. Rejection came with a refusal from Elmira Royster’s parents when Poe asked to marry her. Poe joined the Army one year later, but was then kicked out. Later, Poe married his 13-year-old cousin Virginia Clemm who died years later of tuberculosis. With her death came depression which later turned into a an ironic madness.

Interests Poe’s interests were quite unique. Everything from his stories of supernatural mysteries to writings that twisted the physiological side of one’s mind; His writings also included a creepy or unpleasant feeling inside most of the readers. Other interests included his wife, Virginia. He loved Virginia very much. When she died of tuberculosis, Poe started taking drugs and drinking as well as affairs with other women.
4
Education Though Poe’s life was full of death, grief, and depression, Poe was gifted in many ways When Poe was five, he was able to recite English Poetry. His teacher commented that he was a born poet when he wrote it for class. In 1826 he went to the University of Virginia, but was later expelled for not paying his gambling debts. Though Poe was at least educated, he was described as somewhat mentally disturbed. With depression and madness, one would think that Edgar A. Poe would be considered insane, but little did we know, he would become the greatest poets, and storywriters, of all time.

To Be or Not To Be… In choosing our movies, we decided to choose a movie that would probably appeal to Poe’s taste, one that he would probably find dissatisfying, and one that could go either way. Based on our criteria and known facts about Poe, we summarized it down to three small movie reviews. These were our results:
6
Saw Poe would really like this movie because the Jigsaw serial killer lets his victims find there own way to there demise. If Poe has a strong stomach this would be the movie that would describe the desperate actions done by people in situation.
7
Boohbah Boobah is a television series the came out in the year 2004, bringing joy to little kids as well as others. Taking on the science fiction theme, Boobah is a thriller that teaches others to exercise. If Edgar A. Poe would see one of these episodes, his reaction could be one of an arbitrary sense. For instance, regarding his liking to the supernatural-he may find an interest in the unique design of the Boohbah creatures as well as their odd nature of moving around from one place to another. Of course there is also the chance that Poe would dislike Boobah because it was not of the mystery type. It is too simple and does not bring fear or an uneasy feeling to the human soul.
8
Forest Gump Edgar probably would not like Forest Gump because it shows people prospering but they also fail a couple of times. He could relate to Jenny in both of their darkest hour. But there weren’t many clips if any of desperate people creating misfortunes for others. But people are unpredictable so he might like it.
9
Summary As one may see, E.A. Poe was one of unique standards. He explored places where no poet has gone before and beyond! He plunged into the Gothic era surpassing the ordinary poet as well as was driven with powerful inspirations! With all of this compiled information, we understand that Poe liked the mysterious side of things as well as the supernatural; which makes it easy for one to pick out movies of his liking. Even though Poe was one of an odd nature, his great works will remain in history…forevermore.
