2 Ch 9 Culture and Politics pp.123-124 Politics is the way in which we organize ourselves so we can live together in peace and security. We are governed as a democracy, government by the people. There are 3 different levels of government in Canada – Federal, Provincial, and Municipal.

3 Ch 9 Culture and Politics p. 125 Government in Canada Answer: What is politics? Democracy? What are the different levels of government in Canada and their responsibilities? List the # of politicians needed to represent Atlantic Canada at each level. How are these members decided upon?

10 Political Cartoon Assignment Task: Interpret and analyze political cartoons that deal with specific issues. Procedure: Choose a political cartoon and answer the following: 1) What is the story? 2) Is it positive or negative? Explain. 3) What do you feel is the message?

11 Political Cartoon Assignment Create your own political cartoon: Choose an issue currently in the news. Brainstorm a creative way you could put a humorous spin on the issue. Sketch the scene, and pass in with your answers from the other cartoon. Worth 10 marks.
