VL Connector To introduce the VL wire-to-board and wire-to-wire, crimp style connector series.

Many high current applications require design flexibility in a connector system to incorporate wire-to-board and wire-to- wire connections without switching to a different connector series allowing the user to use the same application tooling. The VL series, crimp-style connectors are offered for wire-to-board and wire-to-wire applications on a 6.2mm (.244”) pitch, molded in a RoHS compliant 94V-0 through-hole headers and housings, and incorporate both polarization and a secure locking feature and is designed to prevent contact stubbing / back-out when mated. Rated 20A AC/DC (using 12AWG in 1 and 2 circuits) at 600V, these robust connectors are available with a secondary retainer to ensure the contacts are fully seated and locked into the housings to prevent accidental release. The series has an operating temperature range of -25 C to +90 C including temperature rise when applying an electrical current. The series is offered in 1 (wire-to-wire) to 12 varying circuit sizes. VL Connector crimp style contacts The VL contacts, which are designed to accommodate a wire range of 12AWG to 22AWG (as well as double crimping) are tin-plated over a phosphor bronze base material. The large cross-sectional area and high pressure design of the contacts accommodate circuits requiring high amounts of power. The use of an optional secondary retainer, the contacts are fully seated and locked into the housings making it ideal for a high vibration environment. Since the contact retention lances are incorporated in the housings rather than protruding from the contacts, they cannot be damaged from handling. The suggested wire strip length for the wire is 5.0mm (.197”) to 5.5mm (.217”).

VL Connector crimp style housings Molded in Nylon 66 rated 94V-0 material, the polarized VL series housings incorporate a secure inner and outer locking device to prevent accidental disconnection due to routing of wires or vibration. Available in 1 (wire-to-wire only), 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9 (wire-to-wire only) and 12 circuits, the locking mechanism is designed for a secure and stable connection ideal for high vibration applications. An audible click is heard and felt when mating the plug housing assembly with the mating half. The outer lock version allows the user to easily disconnect the plug assembly from the mating half. The wire-to-wire housings can be used in free-hanging or panel mounted applications. Other than the single circuit, the wire-to-wire receptacles incorporate a unique space-saving panel lock designed to prevent tangling with wires or breaking in cold or dry environments. VL Connector through-hole headers Available in top-entry (vertical), the RoHS compliant, fully shrouded headers are rated 94V-0 and feature insertion guides for easy and secure insertion of the mating VL plug housings. The phosphor bronze posts are reflow treated pre-tin plating and are designed to prevent accidental removal of the pins that might result from distorted mating.

THE VL SERIES IS ENGINEERING & MANUFACTURING FREINDLY Applicators are available for semi-automatic and fully automatic termination equipment normally found in the manufacturing environment as well as standard hand tools and contact extraction tooling (insertion tooling is not required for the VL series contacts. Standard reels (2,000 pieces) for the VL series for semi- automatic and fully automatic assembly equipment are available for manufacturing.
