Goal: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to find the slope of a line from a graph.

Given (1, 2) and (4, 1) find the slope of the line Step 1: Plot 1 st point

Let’s find the slope! Remember from last time….we determined that one way slope can be found is: Slope = Rise = 1 Run = 3 So….slope in this example is But WAIT!!!

Is the slope negative or positive? If a line goes DOWN from left to right….the slope is negative. If a line goes UP from left to right….the slope is positive. What happens here? It goes down. Therefore the slope is Left to Right
