Computer Viruses Computer viruses are a type of Malware that can infect other computer operating systems. They can do harmful things to the host it infected such as stealing disk space, CPU time, accessing private information and corrupting data. In this slide show we will be outlining Boot sector viruses and File infector viruses.

Boot Sector Viruses This is the most common form of a virus. These are the ones that replicate themselves into other programs when they are executed on a computer system. The most notable form of Boot sector viruses include: Brain, Form, Joshi, Crazy Boot, Trackswap and stoned. Stoned: This is a huge boot sector virus family dating from the early 1988. It is run when a computer is booted up from an infected disk this makes the Stoned virus to become included in the memory. The virus is a major reference to Marijuana because when it has infected the hard drive a message will say: YOUR PC IS NOW STONED! LEGALIZE MARIJUANA! Crazy Boot: This virus infects microsoft windows operating systems which causes no physical damage nor direct loss of information, this could be seen as a false virus. All it does is trick a person into thinking they have deleted everything but it has really made a backup copy of everything.

File Infector Viruses File infector viruses pose as ordinary computer files on the internet so that they can fool a user into downloading them and running them. They are the most classic form of a virus, when they are run it will seek other files and try to insert it’s infected code. The most known types of File infector viruses include: Macro Viruses, MBR (Master Boot Record) Viruses and Multi-Part Viruses.
