-AR Preterites Preterite means “past tense”
Preterite verbs deal with “completed past action” The ending tells who did the action.

-AR Preterites Just as -o, -as, -a, -amos, -áis, -an tells you that the action takes place in the present. -é, -aste, -ó, -amos, asteis, -aron, tells you that the action took place in the past.

-AR Preterites Notice the accent mark on the endings: Yo - É Él - Ó
You need to put the accents on these forms.

-AR Preterites There are no stem changes in –ar or –er verbs

-AR Preterites Verbs that end with –GAR have an end change in the yo form only: g changes to gu Lleg- llegu- llegué Llegaste llegó

-AR Preterites Verbs that end in –CAR, have an end change in the yo form only Change the c to a qu in the yo form Sacar – sac- saqué Sacaste Sacó
