Functions of Business Today, we will begin our longest unit of the year We will take an in-depth look at specific departments/ facets of a business We will look at them in terms of –A large scale business (ie. Pepsi) –A small scale business (ie. Bluedog)

Functions of Business Areas include –Human Resources (HR) –Management –Marketing –Branding –Accounting Projects include –Writing job descriptions –Visiting our neighbourhood businesses –Coke/Pepsi Challenge –Making ads –Looking at brand personalities –Making Financial Statements

Future courses at BCI –Marketing, Accounting, Entrepreneurship, International Business (Gr. 12), Co-op It’s not too late to change! –Talk to guidance before the end of the month College/University Courses offered in all of the areas we will cover

Job Description Human Resources Director is responsible for all or part of the following areas: *recruiting and staffing manufacturing; *performance management and improvement systems; *organization development including team building; *employee orientation, development, and training; *policy development and documentation; *employee relations; *company employee communication; *HR and organizational performance metrics development and analysis Requirements: *BA/BS degree, preferably in HR, Business, Engineering or other Field (required) *Ten + years experience in HR management of a manufacturing/hourly environment *Absolute proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, PowerPoint and Word a must *Strong interpersonal and team skills *Experience coaching a senior team; trusted confidante and advocate *Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills *Analytical with an ability to creatively problem solve *Self Starter with a strong work ethic and productivity *Organized and detail oriented; able to lead all aspects of major HR projects
