3 Additional techniques Be neutral throughout Never suggest answers to the respondent Do not change the wording or sequence of questions Do not form expectations Do not hurry through the interview

4 Minimizing Refusals Communication is critical –DHO, District Council –Chiefs –Headmen –Household head Call backs Respecting consent

5 Call backs Absent HHs should be re-visited up to 3 times –To gain consent –To conduct HH interview –To conduct interviews with eligible women –To test children who may not be present
