2. 2 Some legal steps by VN gov 2004/Apr. Education Minister signs LOI to DANTE 2004/Oct. ASEM-VN secretariate sends formal letter to VN gov and relevant ministeries on joining TEIN2 2004/Dec. VN gov gives green light to join and assigns MOST (Ministry of Science & Technology) as country co-ordinator for TEIN2 2005/Jan. MOST sends LOI and financial contribution to DANTE 2005/May. MOST sets up TEIN2-VN TETF

3. 3 VN Tech Task Force – VN TETF VN-TETF is composed of Technical taffs of:  HUT (Hanoi University of Technology), Ministry of Education & Training  IOIT (Institute of Information Technology), Vietnam Academy of Science & Technology Drafting TEIN2-VN NOC project (for 2005-2006) Assisting MOST to draft TEIN2-VN project (for 2006 and beyond) Assisting MOST in negociation of Hanoi – HK link with local telcos

4. 4 Current status Context: telecom market has been open for local telcos. There is a chance to have similar price as in the region MOST:  Okey with TEIN2 topology to VN, but 155Mbps to HK is prefered Negociating with local telcos (Viettel, VNPT, VPT) for special price for R&E refering to regional price (TH - SG: 812K Euro for 155Mbps/year) Asking Ministry of Post & Telematics (MPT) to have official approval for the special price Letter of Commitment (LOC) shall be sent when negociations are finished (hopefully, early September)  Drafting TEIN2-VN project for the next financial year, 2006 VN-TETF: Trying best to have a “mini” VN-NOC ready by 2005/Dec at the Hanoi University of Technology
