2 RESIDENCE EDUCATION LEARNING OUTCOMES Students will recognize how their decisions and actions impact self, others, and communities. 6 MOVING IN FYE 1220: First-Year Seminar “Intentional initiative to introduce students to college- level learning and help them make a successful transition to the university.” “Intentional initiative to introduce students to college- level learning and help them make a successful transition to the university.” All first-year students classified as freshmen are required to enroll in the First- Year Seminar during their first semester. According to SACS’ Quality Enhancement Plan for the University’s reaffirmation in 2005, one of the main objectives for the course is that “freshmen will practice behaviors that lead to lifelong learning”. 10 RESIDENT DIRECTORS “Student learning has the potential to result from virtually all student experiences” (Manning et. al, 2006, p. 88) Faculty and staff would need to plan and collaborate in advance to make sure that all programs and activities planned in the syllabus support the same educational outcomes and goals. Create an inclusive learning environment for all students to interact with faculty and staff in and outside of the classroom.
