2 The Open Window by Saki vocab = text pg.188 Endeavored v. tried to achieve a set goal Mrs. Loomer endeavored to do all her laundry this weekend, but sadly ran out of time.

3 The Open Window by Saki vocab = text pg.188 Falteringly adv. Spoken hesitatingly or with a wavering voice. When they are nervous to share their quick writes, some students speak falteringly; we should encourage ourselves & other classmates to be comfortable sharing.

5 Quick Write Have you ever made up a story? Why & how did it impact others? Stuck? Try... writing about the flip side - has someone ever told you an untrue story? What were their reasons and how did it turn out? writing about the picture. What's the story behind it or where do you think the open window leads to? writing about a time you've felt really nervous. Did your nerves subside quickly or did they stay with you for a good length of time? Tell a story & have your neighbors figure out if it is true or not. Above all, be sure to use imagery (your 5 senses) and a simile or metaphor!
