The Movement to EDR and the Impact on Editing: Concluding Comments ► Substantial progress in EDR but significant work remains in developing an EDR editing strategy --conflicting goals of maximum EDR usage/response and minimizing errors at collection, soft vs. hard edits, when to invoke edit, how to present messages, how to navigate between edits, data correction and submission ► EDR expands the “self-administered” role of the respondents to include their interaction with the edit process—new indicators of the performance of the edit process needed ► Case study demonstrated that the respondent process may impact the resulting edit failures, which affects the quality of the data
