2 Where to go For policy issues, go to an electronic database NFHS has 2 designed for high school policy papers: ABC-CLIO and Opposing ViewPoints You can access either one from home or any other place you have Internet access Just go to the NFHS Library Home Page (In school use the Library shortcut icon, at home go via Visit Your Library on the District home page)

3 ABC-CLIO Click the All Databases box off, and just use the Issues database Find your issue under issue, click on it The screen is now about your issue, and features a background article On the left are other articles: Overview, Current View & Outlook, Discussion, Articles, Media, Visuals, Maps, & Flags, Documents, Facts & Figures, Timeline, Glossary Terms Current View & OutlookDiscussionArticles, Media, Visuals, Maps, & Flags, Documents, Facts & FiguresTimelineGlossary Terms

4 Opposing ViewPoints Go to Browse Issues Choose the Health and Medicine category The opening article is a Reference article. The reference articles are factual. The Viewpoint articles take one side of the policy debate or the other There are no passwords for Opposing Viewpoints in school. At home, use Empirelink

5 What you will have trouble with Democratic and Republican positions: they are a moving target, though you can categorize them I am posting the 2012 party platforms adopted at the August convention to help you with the official position, but if you read the NPR article, you will see that party platforms are not that important
