2 PROJECT DESCRIPTION  A one day pilot program involving a series of come and try opportunities for first time participants in outdoor adventure activities  Bushwalking  Mountain Biking  Paddling  Depending on the outcomes of the program, a larger scale event known as Outdoors WA Week may be developed

3 PROJECT OUTCOMES  Work with activity providers to implement a series of “Try an Outdoor Activity” opportunities across the metropolitan area  Removal of participation barriers for community groups to access non competitive outdoor physical activity  Increased physical activity and participation for individuals who have not yet experienced outdoor activities  The promotion of resources, links and organisational contacts to further assist come and try participants to continue in outdoor adventure activity  Enhanced club and association relationship development via mutual event facilitation  Appropriate recognition of the Department of Sport and Recreation’s involvement in the program

5 STRUCTURE  All activities opportunities are developed and collected into a central marketing strategy which is developed and positioned by Outdoors WA  Activity specializations are developed, staffed and delivered by expert groups such as an Association or its club members  Outdoors WA provides planning templates to assist task and standardise delivery models  All activities provided on the same day(?)  “punters” register for places on a first-in-first-placed basis until full, all registrations received by Outdoors WA; data base constructed plus “wait list”; participant data including waivers, medical forms etc provided to activity agents  Develop up to 10 outdoor physical activity opportunities / sites where people can go for about 2 hours and “try an activity”

6 STRUCTURE  Outdoors WA develops documentation process including registration forms, location maps, things to bring, wear lists etc after liaison with activity providers  Each activity provider receives a percentage of the grant for use as they see fit in return for their input into the event  Participants’ data made available to all activity providers (pending privacy laws) for follow up initiatives / promotions
