5. SKILL: Main Idea and Details
The topic tells what the story is about
Main ideas are the most important information about the topic
The main idea of a paragraph tells what the paragraph is about
It may be stated in a topic sentence at the beginning or end of the paragraph.
Supporting details give more information about the main idea
