The most popular sports in the Czech Republic are football and ice hockey. Football –tennis is an original Czech sport similar to volley-ball in which the players kick the ball over a low net. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygVOC6AUzVA Other popular sports are volleyball, tennis, floorball, swimming, or winter sports like skiing, skating and snowboarding. Aerobics, zumba or others fitness excercise are very popular in these days.

Although Czech Republic is a small country, we have some well known athletes and maybe you know their accomplishments. At Olympic games in 1998 our ice-hockey team won a gold medal. Petra Kvitová won a Wimbledon. Speed skater Martina Sáblíková won two gold and one bronze medal in Vancouver, Winter Olympic Games 2010,.

Ball games such as voleyball, floorball, basketball…are much more popular. This team sports teach you how to cooperate with others and be a part of team. There are also organized “friendly matches“ and tournaments between schools in the Czech. It's very entertaining and students enjoy it. During all year students like to do outdoor activities. They go jogging or roller blading in summer or ice-skating in winter time.

Students do not like to do track and field and gymnastics at school in PE classes.
