Doctrine and Discipleship 39 And He also spoke a parable to them: “A blind man cannot guide a blind man, can he? Will they not both fall into a pit? 40 A pupil is not above his teacher; but everyone, after he has been fully trained, will be like his teacher. 41 Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?…” ~Luke 6:39-40

n Note context to verse 45, cf. vr. 46 –Ultimately, all instruction benefits one… –To be “as” the Master is to embrace Who and What He is, Son of God, and Lord: 44 “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day. 45 It is written in the prophets, ‘And they shall all be taught of God.’ Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father, comes to Me.” ~ John 6:44-45 cf Luke 6:46

Doctrine and Ministry n The emphasis is on the proper exercise of ministry in the Word/Doctrine/Truth –Reason: The tendency to ear tickling –Resolution: Preach sound doctrine, the truth …not fables, myths, disputations or philosophy n The solemn charge is of Divine origin: –It is in the presence of God and the Lord; –It is in view of His imminent coming and judgment to come, cf. Acts 24:25 “...preach the word...make full proof of thy ministry” (2 Timothy 4:2, 5)
