Management of the CEOP-HE account Bring up to date HE Steering Committee Members of initiative development and appointments Keep the web site contents uptated Divulgate HE activities (electronic newsletters, newspapers) Organization and management of HE Working Group appointments (meetings, conferences, relevant events, etc.)

5 HE Steering Committee future agenda 1)Implementation of Scientific Plan PROPOSAL: Each Steering Committee Member could take care of a specific topic (?) First action: to discuss the draft Index that summarizes the contents of the Scientific Plan

6 HE Steering Committee future agenda 1) Implementation of Scientific Plan Indicative steps for next months could be: within end of April (?): collect contributions from HE-SC Members within end of May (?): first strawman distribution and condivision among HE-SC Members ( e-mail communication? ) June/July (?): further elaborations within end of August (?): first draft approval, validation within CEOP annual meeting (September 15-17, 2008, Geneva)

7 HE Steering Committee future agenda 2) Revision of the contribution of High Elevations Initiative as regional study in the CEOP Strategic Implementation Plan (SIP) There are any modifications to submit to CEOP concerning the High Elevations contribution in current CEOP-SIP on paragraphs 3.2.2 (p 17) and 4.2.2 (p 36)? >> Provide suggestions within the end of April

8 Next Steering Committee Meeting - Which frequency? Once or twice a year? -Where? Prof. Ma suggestion: at Lhasa Branch of Institute of Tibetan lateau Research – Chinese Academy of Science, China Prof. Aizen suggestion: in Bishkek Next CEOP annual meeting foreseen to take place on September 15-17, 2008 in Geneva, Switzerland, represents:  the relevant appointment to advise CEOP Scientific Committee of progress achieved in the implementation of the HE initiative  the indicative and proper context for HE-SC members to meet and discuss initiative progress report

9 Editorial activities It is clear that scientific publications and editorial activities will be of great importance to divulgate HE activities and advice of scientific advances in furthering the understanding of the global energy and water cycles at high elevation areas. Electronic newsletters and several international scientific newspaper and magazines represents possible and useful means of communication and making known of HE.  Example: Mountain Research Initiative or Mountain Forum newsletters  These activities can be managed by the CEOP-HE Secretariat with the suggestions and contribution provided by Steering Committee Members
