6. Poverty Trends within Ethnic Groups
While all 3 groups experienced increases in poverty after 2008, Hispanic and African-Americans children have sustained more than twice the poverty rates of White children.
These are trends from the audited enrollment KIDS file, all grade levels, preschool and NG included.

7. The population counts here, after 2009, have been slightly inflated by a change in the federal method for counting Hispanics. 7 7

8. Note that part of the decline in the African American population, and a small part of the rise is Hispanic Population after 2009, is due to changes in the federal definitions of ethnicity.

4th year of transitioning to College & Career Ready Standards in Math and English Language Arts (ELA)
First year of implementing new College & Career Ready Standards in Science and History/Government.
Kansas just piloted the new Assessment in Math and ELA in Spring of 2014.
All 286 School Districts are piloting new teacher/leader evaluation instruments that include student growth in performance on multiple measures.

75% of jobs in 70’s only required a diploma (and some didn’t require a diploma) and those were good paying jobs, most in manufacturing, a person could work their entire career and never have to go back to school and could easily live in the middle class.
Now many of those jobs have transitioned to high-skill or become obsolete.

How do we prepare students for an ever-evolving workforce? Increase rigor, relevance, something career awareness guidance and the new KCCRS represent and encourage students to COMPLETE at PS
