15 New Industries: New inventions become the basis for new industries.
Telephone industry (Bell, 1876). By 1880 over 50,000+ telephones had been sold. Telephone switchboards = new jobs for women Elias Howe and Isaac Singer – Sewing Machines. Led to ready made clothing for people, so new industry for clothing production.
