“A good grip is the foundation of a good golf swing.” “The pad of the left hand rests on the top of the club. The forefingers wrap underneath. The thumb of the left hand rests just to the top right center of the grip. The gap between the thumb and the forefinger is closed and creates a "V" that points to the right shoulder. The gap between the thumb and the forefinger should be tight enough to hold a coin there without it slipping out. Now take the lifeline (the line around the thumb) of the right hand and put it over the thumb of the left hand. The fingers of the right hand are wrapped underneath the club. The closed "V" formed by the thumb and the forefinger points to the right shoulder. It too should be tight enough to hold a coin.”

The Vardon or overlapping grip where the little finger of the right hand overlaps the forefinger of the left hand. The interlocking grip is similar to the overlapping, except the little finger of the right hand interlocks with the forefinger of the left. This is a good grip for junior golfers with small hands and fingers. This is the grip that we use in our P.E. class. The baseball grip has all ten fingers on the club. This is another grip that can be good for the younger players that haven’t developed full muscle strength. The only way to know which grip is right for you is to experiment with all three. Go with the grip that is most comfortable and gives you the most control. But for P.E., use the interlocking grip.

Key Points of Stance are…. A Flat Back Buttocks OutFlexed Knees A very important part of the setup is alignment. We must have our shoulders, hips, knees and feet parallel to the target line. That will enable us to swing the club to the target.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I’d like to present…. THE BACKSWING!!!! try to create a triangle at the top of your back swing.. The triangle is formed by the elbows and the arms. You will notice at the top of the back swing the elbows will stay in front of the body Remember...

One of the most important things in golf is the way you hit the golf ball. If you hold the club slanted you will shank the ball one way or the other. The impact on the ball or how hard you swing is also impact. You always don’t have to swing hard. The grip is also important.

After your swing you should look like this. The club should be behind your head. Your weight should be shifted to the front foot. On your back foot you should be pushing off from your toes.. At the end of your swing your hips should be turned almost 90 degrees.
