6. Unfortunately, many children in today's society are exposed to violence on a daily basis. A child only has to go as far as the television set to witness violence, real or fiction. 7. Or the Internet has innumerable websites displaying violence of any kind. Some Internet games today directed towards children & teens promote drugs and extremely graphic violence. 8. On a personal level a child can be exposed to violence in his school, either as a witness or a direct victim. Or a child can be exposed to violence through his friends and acquaintances.

9. Or perhaps the most insidious of all a child can be a victim of violence at his home. This is the most insidious because if there is one place, where a child must feel safe, it is at his home. Our home should be our one safe haven. If it is not, this more than anything else can have severe repercussions on a child's psychological development

10. Too many children live in a "culture of violence”

11. Violence is (and has always been) a part of the human condition. From war to child abuse, murder to school-yard bullying, violence takes its toll, often with children being the innocent victims
