“Feedback makes for intentionality— which makes practice effective.” (Uncommon Impact) Coaching does not have to be linked to authority – you help your district/ school leaders improve through coaching even without authority over the districts. 12

14 Four Rules for Getting Better 1.Practice the 20 Identify the 20 percent of things you could work on that will deliver 80 percent of the value.

15 Four Rules for Getting Better 2. Isolate the Skill Break down the larger skill into isolated skills for practice.

16 Four Rules for Getting Better 3. Name It Give each skill a “sticky” name or phrase that will mean something to everyone.

20 Practice Activity Choose a practice activity prompt: 1) “We need help with Common Core implementation. What can your network team do to help us?” -or- 2) “In our district, most teachers are being rated on their observations as ‘effective,’ but their student growth scores don’t support this. What should we do?” Refer to worksheet page 3 for activity instructions
