Introduction As members of mankind, we all have a problem Rom 3:23 “for all have sinned…” Gal 3:22 “But the Scripture has confined all under sin…” As members of Christ’s Church, we have the solution (Rom 6:3-23) This morning I want to look at the Christian’s victory over sin

The Gospel is a message of freedom and liberation Gospel means “Good News”…This is exactly what it shares, the good news of overcoming sin and death Is 61:1-3 “…Because the L ORD has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor…” Lk 4:16-21 Christ goes to Nazareth and reads in the synagogue the above passage and in vs 21 states, “And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.” Gal 5:1 “Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free…”
4
The Gospel is a message of freedom and liberation God is the God of deliverance Ps 34:17 “The righteous cry out, and the L ORD hears, And delivers them out of all their troubles.” Ps 50:15 “… I will deliver you…” 2 Pet 2:4-9 “… 9 then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations…” God cares for the oppressed Ps 9:9-10 “ 9 The L ORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed…” Ps 72:12-14 “ 12 For He will deliver the needy when he cries… 14 He will redeem their life from oppression and violence…”

God through Christ provides freedom to the Christian Freedom from the bonds of Satan 1 Pet 5:8 “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” Acts 26:15-18 “…I will deliver you from the Jewish people, as well as from the Gentiles, to whom I now send you,…” 1 Jn 2:13-14 “…I write to you, young men, Because you have overcome the wicked one… 14 I have written to you, fathers…And you have overcome the wicked one.”
6
God through Christ provides freedom to the Christian Freedom from sin (Jn 8:30-36) Guilt of sin 1 Jn 1:7-9 “the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin…and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Acts 3:19 “…that your sins may be blotted out…” Heb 10:14-17 ““ 14 For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified… 17 then He adds, “Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.” 1 Cor 6:9-11 “…such were some of you…”
7
God through Christ provides freedom to the Christian Freedom from sin (Jn 8:30-36) Temptation of sin 1 Cor 10:13 “…who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape…” 2 Pet 2:9 “then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations… Jam 4:7 “…Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” Heb 2:18 “He is able to aid those who are tempted.”
8
God through Christ provides freedom to the Christian Freedom from sin (Jn 8:30-36) The practice of sin 1 Jn 1:8-10 “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves…If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins… 1 Jn 2:1-2 “…these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ…” Heb 7:25 “Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.”

God through Christ provides freedom to the Christian Freedom from fear of death Ps 23:4 “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil;…” Mt 10:28 “And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul...” Jn 5:24 “…he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life…has passed from death into life.” 1 Thes 4:13-14 “But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep…God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.” Heb 2:14-15 “…through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, 5 and release those who through fear of death…”

Conclusion We will continue to look at the freedom of being victorious over sin in another lesson This morning we must remember that if we have not yet become a member of the Lord’s Church we have not received the freedom of victory If you have not received this freedom you are still under the bondage of sin and subject to the wages of your sin, DEATH (Rom 6:23) If you have continued to sin willfully after becoming a member of the Lord’s Church, you too need gain back the victory…if we sin willfully there no longer remains a sacrifice for sin but a fearful expectation of a fiery judgment (Heb 10:26-27) Whatever your need this morning, bring it to your Heavenly Father this morning and he will give you victory over sin
