19 Sept 2004HP Restricted 19 Cache memory Cache memory is used temporarily to store data from the host until it is written to disk and to stage data requested by the host from the disk All cache is backed up by a fully redundant 48 ‑ hour battery XP disk arrays have global ECC mirrored cache Cache usage is governed by user-established, performance based policies, not physical partitions. 4 GB to 128 GB of cache can be installed in Cache Platform pairs

20 Sept 2004HP Restricted 20 Shared memory Shared memory is separate from the cache memory and is used to store control information, freeing up the cache memory exclusively for user data Shared memory is also used to store system configuration information such as system components mapping, LUN maps, cache pointers, and RAID levels All shared memory is backed up by a fully redundant 48-hour battery The Shared Memory in the XP12000 is mirrored 1 GB to 12 GB of Shared Memory can be installed in an XP12000 (Max Shared Memory at launch is 6 GB. The additional SM Platform Board is not available)

54 Sept 2004HP Restricted 54 XP12000/XP1024/XP128 license key — License terms and enforcement For XP1024/XP128 firmware-based software, license capacity limits are enforced BC XP, CA XP, CA XP Extension, LUN Security XP Extension, and External Storage XP –These products are licensed based on used capacity –For configuration they must first expand software license capacity by purchasing and installing license capacity upgrades LUN Configuration and Security Manager XP, Cache LUN XP, and Auto LUN XP –These products are licensed based on the total raw capacity of the array –When the array raw capacity exceeds the license capacity of the software, the user gets warning messages telling them to upgrade the license capacity
