I-295 Flyover Project Western Henrico County

Why is this being built? To improve the flow of traffic on I-64 between Route 288 and I-295 I-64: more than 55,000 cars/day (2005) Estimate more than 74,000 cars/day by 2026 Congestion at I-64/I-295 interchange, especially during rush hour

What’s being done?

What about sound walls? The project calls for two sound walls: 1.Along I-64 east, west of Pouncey Tract Road between I-64 and the Reflections at West Creek complex. 2.Between northbound I-295 towards I-64 and the Twin Hickory neighborhoods of Waters Edge, Cobblestone Landing and Parsons Walk.

Project Milestones April 11, 2006 – contractor began work Spring 2008 – Pouncey Tract Rd. widening completed Spring 2009 – entire project completed

How will construction affect traffic? Lane closures I-64 & Pouncey Tract10 p.m.-6 a.m. I-2957 p.m.-6 a.m. I-64 detours to Broad St. Between 10:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. periodically during the construction Sunday-Thursday nights No detour during certain holidays & special events Detour maps at www.i295flyover.comwww.i295flyover.com VDOT will announce lane closures and detours several days prior to implementation.
