www.ecompetences.eu 5 e-CF aims and benefits Internationally shared HR management and planning tool for ICT Industry (both vendor and user companies, large companies and SME‘s ) A common reference point between existing ICT competence frameworks like CIGREF, AITTS, SFIA, adding value with a European dimension a neutral, cross-national communication, cooperation and benchmarking tool for the ICT industry, public sectors, training bodies, certification institutions and individuals positioning European ICT competence in the global market A Europe-wide working tool for: –ICT practitioners and managers with clear guidelines for their competence development –HR managers with inputs to anticipate, plan and develop competence needs –Higher Education, Vocational Training and Certification Providers, enabling effective planning and design of ICT curricula Ability to develop, manage and plan ICT practitioner and manager competences that will be needed in a long term perspective across Europe

www.ecompetences.eu 6 Framework underpinning methodology Based on a shared understanding of competence 5 e-Competence levels related to the EQF Framework structured from 4 dimensions: Dimension 1: 5 e-CF areasDimension 3: 5 e-CF levels Dimension 2: 32 competences Dimension 4: knowledge & skills Competence: a demonstrated ability to apply knowledge, skills and attitudes for achieving observable results

www.ecompetences.eu 7 European e-Competence Framework 1.0 structure A shared reference framework structured from 4 dimensions Dimension 1 5 e-Competence areas, derived from the ICT business processes PLAN - BUILD - RUN - ENABLE - MANAGE Dimension 2 A set of reference e-Competences for each area, with a generic description for each competence. 32 competences identified in total provide the European generic reference definitions of the framework. Dimension 3 Proficiency levels of each e-Competence provide European reference level specifications on e-Competence levels e-1 to e-5, which are related to EQF levels 3-8. Dimension 4 Knowledge and skills related to the e-Competences are indicated as optional framework components for inspiration. They are not intended to be exhaustive.

www.ecompetences.eu 10 User guidelines An e-CF accompanying guide supports understanding, adoption and use of the framework –explaining the overall context, background and aims –explaining main principles and methodological choices –enabling ICT stakeholders across Europe to adopt, apply and use the e-CF in their environment, e.g.
