There are 17 different kinds of penguins. The female penguins lay 2 eggs. Penguins can’t fly.

African penguins have a up side down “U” on their bellies. They are 2 feet tall and weigh between 7 and 11 pounds. They live in south Africa.

The African Penguins are also known as black footed penguins. The scientific name for the African penguins is spheniscus demersus.

They walk and slide on their bellies. They typically have a white stripe encircling a black cheek and throat. They also have featherless pink areas around the eyes. When they lay eggs they are green.

They eat fish shrimp krill and squid. They have to protect their eggs from predators. Like sea birds and seals.
