31 (PD Title No. EDU4403E)- Designing a Virtual Field Trip Proficiency Level: Mastery Subject(s):Foreign Languages,Language Arts & Reading,Guidance,Health Education,Industrial Education,Interdisciplinary,Leadership Training,Multicultural Education,Music,Parent Education,Psychology,Science,Social Science,Volunteer,Special Education,Technology,Computer Education,Mathematics,Business,Art,Career Tech,Library Media Grade(s): PreK,K,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,CC,Other Hours: 30.00 Description This workshop will enable participants to use Internet resources to design a "virtual field trip" for their students. Participants will become familiar with the strategies and resources that educators use to design these field trips, as well as tips and tricks to ensure their success. By the end of the workshop, participants will have designed an effective and engaging virtual field trip that is aligned to their state's standards. Pre-requisites This is an introductory course for teachers, technology specialists, curriculum specialists, professional development specialists, or other school personnel. Participants are expected to have regular access to computers. In addition, participants should be proficient with using email, browsing the Internet, and navigating to computer files. Objectives This workshop will enable participants to: 1. Become familiar with the different types of virtual field trips 2. Become familiar with locating and using diverse Internet resources that can be used on a virtual field trip 3. Develop strategies for aligning a virtual field trip with existing curriculum and standards 4. Understand how to use Microsoft Word to create and present virtual field trips to students 5. Develop strategies for assessing virtual field trips 2.9

33 LE  All Evaluatees (Educators/Librarians/Counselors) select & complete one & only one, Educator Self Assessment  Librarians also serving as classroom teachers will complete the Educator Self Assessment for Librarians  Counselors also serving as classroom teachers will complete the Educator Self Assessment for Counselors  Counselors & Librarians unsure of which Educator Self Assessment to complete will seek direction from their Evaluator

34 LE  The completed Educator Self Assessment provides the basis for a meaningful conversation between the Evaluator and Evaluatee.  From this conversation, the Evaluator and Evaluatee will determine plans for professional growth and implementation.  Meaningful dialogue should result in finalizing indicators, selected from the completed Educator Self Assessment, assigned to the PLP.

35 LE “Levels of Practice” selected by the Evaluatee will not necessarily determine the indicator(s) assigned to the PLP for professional growth. Indicators assigned to PLP should reflect the most significant professional growth needs for the Evaluatee, regardless of selected “Level of Practice.”

36 LE  Evaluatees and Evaluators will finalize the PLP at the beginning of the school year, after the Educator Self Assessment is complete and the Dialogue is held.  Evaluatees are responsible for entering the PLP content. 38 LE  Evidence Summary  Optional report completed by Evaluators at the end of EA process, prior to the next year  Evaluators will close each educator’s EA process for 2011-2012 by July 27, 2012.  EA process should remain open to enter supporting evidence related to the Evaluatee’s professional development experiences during summer 2012.  If EA process is closed prematurely, the Evaluator has capacity to re-open until July 27, 2012.  EA processes not closed by Evaluators will be closed by the SDE on August 1, 2012.
