Location ●Roman Forum, Regione VIII ●located on the corners of the Argiletum and Sacra Via ●stood in between the curia and the temple of Faustina

Origin ●originally built in 5th century BCE as butcher shops (tabernae lanienae) ●erected in 179 BCE by Marcus Fulvius Nobilior ●after death, completed by Marcus Aemilius Lepidus ●originally named Basilica Fulvia ●renamed after the Aemilian gens

Importance ●used as a place of business ●Roman businessmen held political meetings and community gatherings ●place of pride for builders ●walls depicted early Roman legends
