What is the PAC?

PAC = Parent Advisory Council  Presently, our PAC board consists of  Our two principals – Kari Sampson at WW and Susan Johnston at ZE  Staff representation – Shawn Scheel at ZE and Ginger Skille at WW  Our parent Liaison – Marie Johnson at both ZE & WW  And parent representatives – Amy Teal and Kelly LaVigne

What is the purpose of the PAC?  To provide and excellent educational experience for our students by supporting our staff, parent/guardians and families; building an active social community, and promoting collaborative partnerships between home and school.  What does that mean?  Our goal is to work together in a coordinated effort on behalf of our students and staff of both schools to accomplish a full and rewarding elementary educational experience.

When and why was the PAC formed?  PAC was formed during the summer and fall of 2009. There was not a strong interest in our PTO, so a committee was formed (principals and key members) who researched and created the bylaws to form what is now the PAC.  Being a PAC vs. a PTO allows us to communicate directly with our parents/families. A school board ruling prevents an outside organization from sending information home with students.

Why are the two schools combined?  We combined the two schools into one PAC to operate as similar organizations across the district who are k-5. We are the only community in the district with separate K-2 and 3-5 school buildings.  In addition, many activities we approve through our funding is offered at both WW and ZE.

Raising Funds  Each year the PAC does a fall fundraiser. Each student, K-5 can participate.  The money raised in past years has gone to support the purchasing of:  During the school year the PAC board, teachers and principals submit Funding requests for approval.  The PAC board reviews Funding requests, ensures it falls within our PAC objectives and balances funds so that each school is treated fairly iPads, computers, author visits, Zebra folders, tooth boxes, activity day bounce houses, teacher appreciation refreshments, playground equipment, legionville, and special classroom needs.

How can you help?  Being part of the PAC can be as big or as little as make it.  We have board positions available. If you want to know more about them, ask one of us or check out our website.  If you want to help in little ways just let us know that you are available on a per case basis.  You can attend meetings, share your input and help ensure a successful fundraiser.
