We were given 2 weeks notice… All staff AfPE trained (after recent meeting) Risk Assessment up to date/CRB checks uptodate Timetable checked (2 hours PE per class) Overview of PE to link to NC requirements PE policy PLT action plan Ensure subject folders organised and clear (planning and assessment) Noticeboards up to date (festival info, interactive notices, clubs info, teams/matches, links to clubs, sportsleaders) Vocab on display in sports hall Assessment grid up to date/ analyse Records of lesson observation/staff CPD

We received a letter 2 weeks before detailing what she would require during the visit Evidence showing achievement/attainment in PE Any assessment reporting Scheme of work/curriculum documentation PE policy Pupil reports Head timetabled the day (8.30-6.00 feedback 5.30) to include: A meeting with the head (45mins) 3 x Lesson obs (across the Key Stages to last 35mins each) Meeting with the PLT to discuss documentation/leadership (1hr) Observation of playtimes & lunchtimes/discussion with sports leaders Meeting with group of pupils (12x Yr2+) Meeting with Reception teacher (15mins) Observation of afterschool club (tap dancing)

What was she looking for…. Differentiation good use of LSA’s/support for less able /challenge for more able Use of ICT – video clips/cameras to evaluate or as stimulus Teacher/ pupil demonstrations Pacy lessons /lots of activity Children working well together/listening/evaluating Children’s use of technical language Warm up/main teaching activity/cool down L/O displayed and referred to.

Examples of questions asked… How do you monitor the children’s progress in PE? What would you identify as an area of strength/improvement? What is your analysis of your assessment grid? How do you ensure the grid is used consistently? How do you use the grid to inform you on pupils progress? How do you make use of links to the local community? How do you support G&T/SEN pupils? How do you ensure breadth and balance across the curriculum? What CPD do you provide for the staff to ensure they are confident teaching PE? Club links/5 hour offer? Leadership opportunities?
