ANIMATION By Alex
2
Introduction to Animating First thing in the morning, we entered the classroom to find an alarming array of interesting equipment. Paul Slater, the professional who was teaching us, told us to sit down, then telling us about how animation worked. A Wallace and Gromit two minute episode was shown to us, as Wallace and Gromit is model animation.

Designing the Characters Now we had got an idea about what animation was like, Paul gave us each a number, to design a character around. We each drew a character, working in partners. Some partners did one between them, as well.

Making the Figures Paul had brought lots of model plasticine with him, used for making the real thing! We first had to warm up the plasticine, which meant pounding it until it would mould easily. I made an animal based around the number three, a three legged monster.

The Animation! Finally we are going to do the animation, after designing some music on special software. Paul had set up his animating in the nursery room, and then took hundreds of pictures, changing the picture very slightly each time. Making the character blink was quite a strenuous activity!!
6
Cut out Animation Another sort of animation we did was cut out animation. We cut out parts of an elephant, then stuck magnets on the back of each individual part. We then stuck them on the whiteboard and made them walk across one by one.
